BUCHAN BRAES REACHES FOR THE STARS AGAIN
(Tues 28th April 2009)
The Buchan Braes Coastal Hotel has earned further recognition for its high standards, with the award of an AA four star grading and Rosette just eight months after opening at Boddam, near Peterhead.
The latest recognition follows the hotel recently receiving a four star rating from VisitScotland and a highly commended for its Grill Room in the Grampian Food Forum’s Taste of Grampian Restaurant of the Year Award.
Tony Jackson, Buchan Braes’ Operations Director, commented: "We are proud to have added the AA four star grading and a Rosette for the restaurant to the earlier accolades, all of which underpin the standards we set out to achieve, from initial design right through the hotel in operation.
"Being the only four star hotel in the Buchan area, we feel we are flying the flag for high standard hospitality and excellent use of fresh local produce in the restaurant. The wealth of fantastic food suppliers on our doorstep helps ensure the quality in our cooking."
The AA report noted that Executive Chef, Gary Christie, and his team present and prepare food with skill and flair, that the quality local ingredients used are cooked accurately – and that the hot chocolate fondant is worth a special mention!
Kate Kennedy, General Manager, said: "As we have only been operational since August, I am truly delighted with the AA awards which, with the others, are a great boost for our entire team, all of whom deserve credit.
"Our first AA Rosette recognises our commitment to using fresh products, including locally-sourced, cooked with technical flair and served in contemporary surroundings, ensuring that Buchan Braes Hotel is a haven of good food as well as warm, friendly hospitality."
Buchan Braes’ celebration of the awards includes launching a new Grill Room menu on Tuesday 5 May.
