Established in 1841, Peterhead Golf Course was extended to 18 holes in 1908 and today, the course is seen as a classic example of Scottish seaside golf at its best and one of the toughest. Nearby in Cruden Bay is the championship course, an old-fashioned links golf course offering an internationally famous golfing experience. Last year, Cruden Bay Golf Course was placed at No 52 in the world by 'Golf Magazine'. Both courses are also loved for their magnificant beauty and panoramic views.

Other golfing gems dotted along the North East include Newburgh-on-Ythan, Fraserburgh, Alford, Royal Tarlair, Turriff and Huntly, all of which are a mixture of links and inland courses.
